Pricing FAQs
How do you know my CI spend?
We calculate costs using job timestamps and GitHub's published per-minute rates for each runner type. The same method GitHub uses for billing. We never have access to your actual GitHub billing data.
What counts toward my CI spend?
All billable GitHub Actions minutes across your connected repositories. This includes Linux, Windows, and macOS runners at their respective rates. Self-hosted runners are tracked but don't count toward spend thresholds.
How is additional CI spend billed?
CI spend beyond your plan's included amount is calculated daily and billed at the end of each month. Your base subscription is charged upfront (monthly or annually), while additional usage charges are always monthly.
Can I change plans mid-cycle?
Yes. Upgrades take effect immediately with prorated billing. Downgrades take effect at the next billing cycle. You'll never lose access to features mid-month.
Is there a free tier?
Yes. CostOps is free for monitoring your GitHub included minutes — the free minutes GitHub gives every account. You only need a paid plan when you have billable CI spend beyond what GitHub includes for free.
What kind of savings can I expect?
Results vary based on your current CI configuration, but teams typically find opportunities to reduce spend by 20-40% after implementing optimization recommendations. Common wins include caching improvements, runner right-sizing, and eliminating redundant workflow runs.
